Introduced by the Chattanooga Police Department to educate motorists and cyclists in order to increase awareness and reduce conflict on our roadways, this device, known locally as the BSMART (Bicyclist and Safe Motorist Applied Radar Technology – although the system actually uses ultrasound, not radar), is used by officers to document unsafe passing actions.
